My 5 Favorite Feel-Good Things

3/28/2020

I think we could all use some feel-good vibes amidst the mess that is the world currently, wouldn't you agree? Even with all of the uncertainty, I've been desperately trying to see all of this an an opportunity to slow down, spend time with Albert, take care of myself, and reevaluate my life. I'm currently going on day 9 of no makeup and loving it. It's so nice to be able to give my skin a break. Honestly, it's nice just to be able to take a break in general. There's no doubt that this is scary time for everyone, but I'm hopeful that we can come out on the other side of it more grateful for the world we live in and the people in it. All of that said, I thought it would be nice this week to share some of the feel-good things that are bringing me joy + keeping me calm throughout all of this. I hope you enjoy!

1. Girls' Night In Newsletter

If you're not already subscribed to the Girls' Night In newsletter, please do yourself a favor and sign up here. This incredible company provides some of the most positive, mindful content every Friday morning in your inbox, and it's without a doubt my most clicked through newsletter subscription. From self-care tips, interviews with inspirational women, book recommendations, and uplifting articles, these gals are doing it all. I'm pretty obsessed with them if you can't tell by this borderline love note. Hey Alisha Ramos & Girls' Night In, hire me? Please?

2. Lou & Grey everything

As I sit here typing this I am rocking one of my many pairs of Lou & Grey signature sweatpants (seen above). I mean, this company sells the most freakin' comfortable clothes I've ever put on my body. Not to mention their sweatshirts are so high quality that they can even be worn to work if dressed up appropriately. I am always living in everything Lou & Grey, but especially during these times. It takes my cozy game to a whole new level.

3. pukka Calming Tea

My sweet husband brought this Pukka tea home to me in the weeks leading up to the first The Balancing Effect event, A Toast to Women, and I have been hooked ever since. Add a little honey and a splash of almond milk and curl up with a good book. It's so yummy and so soothing.

4. All the Candles

On a normal day, the first thing I do when I get home is light a candle before heading upstairs to get into my "cozies" for the evening. But now with being home constantly, I've been lighting one after my work day ends to signify it's time to stop and relax for the evening. My absolute favorite scents are the Coconut Milk Mango candle by Illume and also anything by Rewind. Their spring seasonal candle is Mimosa scented and it's delightful.

5. Face Masks

I try not to do these too often by recommendation of my beauty queen sister, but I have been loving using this Laneige Water Sleeping Mask about 2-3 x a week for hydration and then alternating between two favorites, the Pacifica Kale Charcoal Detox Mask & Yes To Tomatoes Charcoal Mud Mask, 1-2 x a week to help with some detoxing. I have oily + acne prone skin, so doing a healthy combo of both is good, or so I'm told? LOL. I was nervous to use a hydrating mask like the Laneige one at first, but I really do see a difference in my skin the next morning. Doing face masks always makes me feel fancy and like I'm at a spa. And since we can't go to the spa currently, why not bring the spa to our homes?
Stay safe friends. We'll get through this! Take extra good care of yourself in the meantime.
