As I gear up to host my first ever The Balancing Effect event with the world in just two short weeks (holy moly guys!), I've been thinking a lot about imposter + comparison syndrome and how we as either a) small businesses owners, b) aspiring entrepreneurs, or c) women in general in today's society compare ourselves so harshly to others and feel as if we do not belong or deserve all the great things. I had those thoughts so intensely when I first had the idea for A Toast to Women in August 2019. Who am I to create this event? I'm a nobody. No one knows my name. No one will care. People will laugh at my attempts to do good in the community. But you know what? I'm so tired of playing small for fear of what other people think of me. I'm tired of dimming my shine for fear that it may be "too bright" for others. I'm tired of not going after the things that I believe in so greatly because of the opinions of others. So I'm diving head first and swimming this marathon until I cross the finish line. And I'm going to make sure people know what I'm up to. Because it's important and I deserve to be in this arena as much as anyone else. We all do.

For this week's blog, I wanted to share 20 reminders/tips for all those who may be dealing with imposter + comparison syndrome. You deserve to be here and your ideas are important. So read the below and remember these things every time you start to feel small. You, my friend, are worthy of all the great things.
  1. To live the life you’ve always wanted to live, you must be willing to do things you never thought you could do.
  2. The uniqueness you have to share with the world is unlike anyone else.
  3. If it isn’t a hell yes, then it’s a f*ck no.
  4. Cutting ties with those who bring you down will leave you lighter, happier, and calmer than you ever thought you could be.
  5. Getting out of your comfort zone is the greatest gift you can give yourself.
  6. It’s absolutely okay to be selfish and put yourself first.
  7. If a job, partner, friend, activity, opportunity, etc. isn’t serving you…you've got to leave.
  8. Challenging yourself every day to be better will, in fact, make you a better person.
  9. Perfection is a prison. Let that shit go.
  10. Your mindset dictates every aspect of your life. And, if you actively work to create a healthy one, a beautiful life will unfold before your eyes.
  11. It’s okay if you f*ck up - admit it, own it, and move forward.
  12. Being the bigger person is better than holding a grudge.
  13. Let yourself be vulnerable and feel everything to the fullest extent.
  14. If you have something to say, say it loudly.
  15. Once you let go of what other people think, you become a force to be reckoned with.
  16. Mentors make your life so much better and are a wealth of knowledge.
  17. When making life-changing decisions, let your heart have the final say.
  18. Always ask for help when you need it. And never feel ashamed to do so.
  19. True girlfriends will celebrate your successes and cheer you on. Shitty girlfriends will hold you back.
  20. Every failure is bringing you closer to where you’re meant to be.
